An educational tour was organized by the Department of History, Government Arts and Commerce College, Paddhari. In this educational tour, students were taken to Gandhi Museum, Watson Museum and Archives at Rajkot on 29 Sep.2022. The Gandhi Museum in Rajkot enthralled students with the story of Gandhiji's struggle from birth to death and his thoughts. Students were impressed after seeing the modern museum equipped with multimedia and technology. After visiting the Gandhi Museum, the students were taken to the Watson Museum, where they got acquainted with the ancient inscriptions of Saurashtra, idols, royalty of Saurashtra and various arts of Saurashtra. After the Watson Museum, the students were fed food at The Grand Thacker Hotel and taken for a visit to the archive, where Damor Sir and Yagnik Sir of the archive gave information about the importance of historical documents and how history can be written through these documents. Apart from this, detailed understanding was provided to the students by showing different offices of how archives can be useful for research purposes. During the entire journey, arrangements were made for the entire journey of the students by the Principal of the College and the Head of the History Department, Dr. Nilaben S. Thaker and the Professor of the History Department, Dr. Dharmesh R. Parmar. Total 19 persons participated in this program.
